Wood Green Legal Advice Centre

“This invaluable experience is a fantastic way to gain a unique insight into the day-to-day work of lawyers, and it has taught me a range of skills, including problem solving, teamwork, communication and the ability to work under pressure. I would definitely recommend any student interested in law to volunteer! “I am one of the student team leaders at the clinic, but my main job is to support legal advisors alongside my fellow student volunteers. I usually start by welcoming new clients by finding out who they are and what their legal problem is. After that, I usually sit down at the client`s meeting with one of the legal advisors and take notes on the issues discussed, advice given, and actions needed. This complements the legal material I`m currently learning very well and is a great insight into what my potential future career as a lawyer could bring. The St. James Legal Advice Centre offers a free legal advice clinic at our community centre on Wednesdays during school hours between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. No appointment required, just show up the same day. They advise on all legal matters, with the exception of debt and migration issues. For more information, call the number below or send an email: sjlacwoodgreen@gmail.com.
