Certification requirements differ from state to state and territory. In some cases, all persons involved in the sale, service and promotion of alcohol in licensed establishments must be accredited in this unit. This may include the licensee and security personnel. You will learn the legal requirements for selling or serving alcohol, assess customers affected by alcohol, and how to reject drunk customers. This RSA course also meets the training requirements of the responsible person. The unit contains knowledge requirements under national and territorial liquor licensing legislation for employees engaged in the sale or service of liquor. 1.1. Sell or serve alcohol in accordance with the provisions of relevant national or territorial legislation, licensing requirements and responsible compliance with the Alcohol Principles. The licensee is required to retain a copy of the training certificate under Regulation 14AG(2) of the Liquor Control of Premises Regulations, 1989. This can be stored on paper or electronically, provided it is available for inspection if needed. We have a recognized standard format for the training log available on our website.

Responsible use of alcohol is a central requirement of the Liquor Control Act (1988). It is a criminal offence to sell alcohol to a visibly drunk person. 2.1. Prepare and serve standard beverages or samples in accordance with industry requirements and professional standards. This unit covers RSA qualification and knowledge requirements common to all states and territories. Some legal requirements and knowledge differ from border to border. In some cases, at the end of this unit, state and territory liquor authorities require applicants to complete a transition course to address these specific differences. For all other bar employees involved in the sale, supply or service of liquor on licensed premises, the mandatory training requirement is the nationally accredited Responsible Alcohol Service Unit of Competence (SITHFAB021), unless they work in a club or establishment licensed under a restricted club. In a club or club-restricted space, bar staff engaged in the sale, supply or service of spirits may instead take the Clubs WA Responsible Service of Alcohol – Club Industry Training course. 4.3. If necessary, give customers a verbal warning and ask them to leave the premises based on organizational or domestic requirements, the specific situation, and the provisions of state or territory laws and regulations. 3.3. Identify customers who should be denied sale or service under state and territory laws. Paragraph 103A(1)(b) of the Act requires licensees to keep a training record on licensed premises that records the data of all employees or volunteers who have completed the Liquor Service unit of jurisdiction. At the end of each of the six (6) learning modules, multiple-choice questions must be answered.
